The rebooted 2009 Star Trek movie = 2 hours of nerdgasm. Good choice on the new Kirk and Spock (btw imo, the original series and TNG are cool, Deep Space Nine and Voyager are crap). Who knew Spock got a thing for Uhura?

The Beauty of What's in Front of You

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds -- then hurried to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and, without stopping, continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3-year old boy...

His mother tried to rush him, but the boy stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of an social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people. The themes were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: How do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

Ouch!

Try not to miss the beauty of life coming your way -- it may be right in front of you. Right now, in fact.

5. Org tamak selalu rugi. Walaupon perut kenyang gile, tapi tetap rugi gak.

While the latest Keane's Perfect Symmetry going 80s ( aiseyy..wheres the sweet melancholy melodies?) and Snow Patrol's A Hundred Million Suns trying to be 'epic' (16min song? oh come on..nak jadi Dream Theater ke?), The Killers' latest Day and Age stick to the old formula in their last 2 release (3 if you count Sawdust)... and it works. Get ready nak dengar 1st single Human hari2 kat radio. Kalau suka The Killers dari dulu, this one wont dissapoint.

And speaking of Snow Patrol, i just heard Leona Lewis cover their song Run. I dont usually like pop stars butchering rock songs ( ingat Beyonce, Britney, and Pink cover "We Will Rock You"? arghhh rosak!) , but this one cool gak. She really can sing la.. I approved..haha.

In a very strange (?) coincident, gue just discovered this band & their album around the time Bunga Melati 2 vessel got stuck in the Gulf of Aden.
Seven Nautical Miles - Every Ocean Reversed (2008). (get it?)

Yah, ini dia..Rockstar Games' Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition UMD for PSP (Ebay, 2nd hand, RM48 including shipping).
The first original game aku beli. EVER. PC tak penah, PS tak penah, PS2 pon tak penah.
Its the only game aku rasa worth buying. 'Free' ehem version download dah try- cutscenes potong, soundtrack tak cukup, hang sana sini.
PS2 version punyer dah katam. Nak repeat balik ni kat PSP.

Sorry NFS fans, game ni lagi layan. Takde satu pon NFS Series lepas NFS Underground (for PC.. kan game rasmi bachelors pad Teratai Mewah dulu hehe) yg aku rasa worth playing. This is the shizzle bejizzle (??!??).

Not the latest (released in 2005) but still one of the best. Sementara tunggu Midnight Club LA Remix for PSP in Oct + Gran Turismo Mobile yg entah bile ntah nak kuar, bleh layan lap kat Detroit/ San Diego /Atlanta sini.. burn rubber sampai lebam.

Memang seswai bangat layan lepas sahur tunggu subuh atau waktu nak tunggu buka posa bulan depan. Daripada tido, lagi baek main game.heh.

Believe the hype... the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight memang layan.
Joker is way more than what i expected.. sometimes overshadowing Batman.. (who is still awesome btw..)
We (arol+faranoid, din, bhav, haziq) were very lucky to get ticket on the 3rd opening day.

Trengganu: Mercedes purchase was a cost cutting measure!

BN state Terengganu has procured 14 units of the Mercedes-Benz E200K at a price of RM3.43 million (RM245K each?) to replace the Proton Perdana V6 Executive state exco cars that was purchased in 2004. The new E200Ks will be used by the state exco members, state assembly speaker, secretary, legal adviser and finance officer.

Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Mokhtar Nong said the state felt the E200K was better for the long term compared to the Perdana V6 as the maintenance costs were lower. Terengganu MB Datuk Ahmad Said said that the Perdana V6 was not suitable for continuous long-distance journeys as they were coughing up alot of money maintaining the car, especially the gearbox.

The MB used state exco Toh Chin Yaw’s Perdana V6 as an example to prove his point. The Perdana V6 was claimed to have burned RM50k in repairs in the past 3 years. He did not go into details on what exactly needed to be repaired that needed that sum of money, and where the repair works were performed.
